De Maiwand Atalan and Oqaban Hindukosh Play to a Tie in First Leg

De Maiwand Atalan and Oqaban Hindukosh ended the first leg of their semifinal matchup in a 1-1 tie.  There was a lot of intrigue surrounding this game because of the contrasting styles of the two teams. 
Oqaban Hindukosh came into the game as the most prolific offensive team in the tournament, scoring a total of 12 times in just three games against Shaheen Asmayee, Mawjhai Amu, and De Abasin Sape.
While De Maiwand Atalan made it to the semifinals on the strength of their defense, giving up only 2 goals in three matches. De Maiwand Atalan were able to slow Oqaban Hindukosh's attack in the first half and the teams went into the locker-room scoreless.   
The second half was as hard-fought as the first. The first goal of the game came on a penalty kick from De Maiwand Atalan's Sayed Baqir Agha in the 59th minute. As minutes ticked away, the game looked  like it was going to end in a victory for the southerners until a late foul was called on De Maiwand Atalan. The free kick at goal that followed was blocked. The rebound fell right in front of Oqaban Hindukosh forward Riza Rizayee who shot the ball passed De Maiwand Atalan goalkeeper Ahmadullah Sadat to tie the game at one in the 84th minute.
De Maiwand Atalan and Oqaban Hindukosh will play the second leg of this semifinal matchup on Thursday September 25, 2014 at AFF Stadium.
