There was a lot intrigue surrounding this contest because of the contrasting styles of the two teams and the fact that the winner would advance to the RAPL championship for the first time ever. Both teams gave it their all, but it was Oqaban Hindukosh that came out with the win and a 2014 RAPL championship birth.
Entering the first leg of this semifinal, De Maiwand Atalan had allowed only two goals throughout group play and were able to slow down the Oqaban Hindukosh attack by limiting them to just two goals in as many games. Previously Oqaban had recorded 12 goals in three games against Shaheen Asmayee, Mawjhai Amu, and De Abasin Sape. A staggering four goals per game average.
Each team had chances to score in regulation time, but neither was able to capitalize to take the lead. The match went to overtime as 94 minutes wasn't enough time to decide a winner.
Oqaban hindukosh's Farhad Totakhil finally broke the scoreless tie and connected on a shot in the first overtime at the 97th minute, which was misplayed by De Maiwand Atalan goalkeeper Ahmadullah Toofan. The Oqaban Hindukosh supporters erupted as soon as the ball hit the back of the net.
The game was slipping away from De Maiwand Atalan, until Mohammed Hafiz scored on a brilliant header in the 112th minute to tie the game and send it to the first penalty shootout of these RAPL playoffs.
The penalty shootout was a tense affair for both sides with De Maiwand Atalan scoring on seven of ten opportunities. Oqaban Hindukosh scored once more, connecting on eight of ten kicks to earn a spot in the 2014 RAPL championship for the first time ever. They will take on the winner of De Spinghar Bazan and Shaheen Asmayee who played to a 1-1 tie in their first leg match.
