De Maiwand Atalan defeated last year's runners up, Simorgh Alborz, in game two of the 2014 RAPL main event. AFF Stadium was buzzing all game long as fans were given a tantalizing performance by both teams.

In the end De Maiwand Atalan were still standing as they defeated Simorgh Alborz by two goals (3-1). Maiwand's Khalid Ahmad Irfan scored a goal in the 26th minute and another in the 70th minute to lead all scorers. Gulam Rasool Fazli added a third goal in the 94th minutes to seal the victory for De Maiwand Atalan.

Although they lost, Simorgh Alborz did lead time of possession with a 55% to 45% advantage. Alborzs' one and only goal came from their Forward, Farhad in the 87th minute.    

Maiwand Atalan Captain, Sayed Baqir, was excited about their opening game victory and said, "I am happy with a win in the opening match against the team that played in last year's final. This shows how capable our team is, we are headed for the final."
