Coming in to the 2014 RAPL season, pundits predicted De Maiwand Atalan would finish with a losing record and miss the playoffs. Even before their opening match, things looked bleak for the southerners as they were grouped with the reloaded De Spinghar Bazan, the 2012 RAPL champions Toofan Harirod, and last year's runners up Simorgh Alborz.

De Maiwand Atalan stormed out of the gates in their opening match against Simorgh Alborz, dominating last year's second place team 3-1 and putting themselves the championship conversation. Their next challenge came against the dangerous Toofan Harirod, in a game that both teams needed to win badly. De Maiwand Atalan defeated Toofan by a final score of 2-0, with suffocating defense and timely attacks. With the win, they qualified for the 2014 semifinals. They ended the regular season with a loss to De Spinghar Bazan and a tie against Oqaban Hindukosh, finishing with a record of two wins, one loss, and a draw.

De Maiwand Atalan locked up with Oqaban Hindukosh in their semifinal matchup. After the two teams played to a draw in the first game, the second went to a memorable penalty shootout that saw the southerners lose 7-8. Although they came up a game short of the championship, De Maiwand Atalan gave their fans a lot to be proud of in 2014. They finished the competition in fourth place and were awarded the RAPL fair play award for good sportsmanship.
