About the team

Shaheen Asmayee represents Kabul, the nation’s capital and cultural-economic center of Afghanistan with over 5 million inhabitants. The team is believed to be one of the well-recognized teams of the country.

Shaheen means falcon, an elegance bird with the ability to fly fast with great aerial agility to capture any prey. The second part, “Asmayee” refers to the majestic Asmayee Mountains that dominate the skyline of the capital, Kabul. The team hopes to emulate the speed, agility, and grace of their mascot.

Looking back to Afghan Premier League (APL) history, Shaheen Asmayee stands with pride and a long-prominent legacy.

The 2016 APL draw put the team in Group “A” where they were able to secure 6 points in the group stage. The team blazed its way to semi-finals for the fourth year in a row. Shaheen successfully advanced to 2016 APL final triumphing over Simorgh Alborz with aggregate score of 10-3 in the semi-finals. Later, the two-¬time champions were determined to continue their winning streak playing against De Maiwand Atalan in the 2016 APL final during which Shaheen cruised to a 2-1 victory over its opponent.

This is the third time Shaheen Asmayee etched its name on the APL championship cup.
