2016 RAPL Review: De Spinghar Bazan

6 Mar, 2017

Representing the eastern region of Afghanistan, De Spinghar Bazan, the champions of 2015 Roshan Afghan Premier League (RAPL) came to capital Kabul to compete in the fifth season and to defend their title. The team was supervised and mentored by FIFA licensed coach from Tajikistan.

De Spinghar Bazan successfully dethroned Shaheen Asmayee in the 2015 RAPL final with a thrilling 4-3 penalty shootout victory and marked their first RAPL championship in their history.
Based on 2016 RAPL draw, Oqaban Hindukosh, Simorgh Alborz, Mawjhai Amu, and Bazan played in group “B”.

Relying on their remarkable 2015 victory and players, Bazan kicked-off the fifth season with the hope to win another title. Surprisingly, Bazan ended their first group stage match against Simorgh Alborz with a 2-2 draw. The team’s offensive approach and efforts in the second group stage match against Oqaban ended scoreless too, a 0-0 draw. The second draw doubled the risk of elimination for Bazan.

Standing against Mawjhai Amu in their third group stage match, De Spinghar Bazan lurked for any slot to mark their first triumph and prevent an early elimination, yet, conceded 2-0 to Amu. With two draws and one loss, Bazan did not qualify for the fifth season semi-finals and came seventh.
