On November 28th, all the International Football Federations marked the International Day of Women’s Grassroots. The Afghanistan Football Federation organized a festival for 200 young girls on this day.

Ali Askar Lali, a professional football instructor established the AFF Grassroots committee in 2009 and Mujtaba Faiz is the director of the committee.

The objective of this committee is to create and spread the love for football among Afghan children. The committee creates regular football leagues for children and holds festivals and workshops to train football coaches to prepare them for vocational training of these children. The committee also holds annual grassroots festivals for children in different provinces in an attempt to outspread the football culture in the society.

Afghanistan Grassrootsprogram was selected as the best in Asia in 2013 by the Asian Football Confederation.
