Atalan to Stand against Shaheen in the Final

26 Sep, 2016

Hekmatullah Sharipove’smen took an impressive victory over Mawjhai Amu in the second returning game of Roshan Afghan Premier League (RAPL) 2016 semi-final. This is De Maiwand Atalan’s second consecutive win in the semi-finals against its rival, Amu. The match kicked-off at the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) stadium.

Neither side was able to fashion an effort on target in the first 45 minutes that were desperately short on quality. Still, Amu seemed eager in applying pressure on Atalan’s bar. Atalan in response, switched to defensive tempo to avoid any crack. The first-half ended 0-0.

De Maiwand Atalan maintained their unbeaten start to the pitch as a second-half goal from Abdul Manan Azimi secured a deserved 1-0 domination on 52 minutes. To double the lead, on the 69 minutes, Faiz Faizi rippled the roof of Amu’s net for the second time, marking it 2-0 in favor of Atalan.

Rattling a number of shots at goal, Amu was not lucky to recover the deficit or make any score. Atalan later substituted its strikers with defenders to safeguard the bar.

The crucial game of today ends 2-0 in favor of De Maiwand Atalan. With this triumph, Atalan will stand against Shaheen Asmayee in the RAPL 2016 final on Friday, September 30, 2016.

Mawjhai Amu and Simorgh Alborz will compete to determine the 3rd position-holder. The teams will play on Thursday, September 29, 2016.
