In 2014 Farhad Totakhil's team was the toughest challenge of all for Shaheen Asmayee. Oqaban Hindukosh defeated the defending champions in group play during the regular season and lost the 2014 championship in extra time by just one goal, 3-2.
In a post game interview, Totakhil explained his team's mindset going into the championship. "We had a simple strategy for that game, to play sound defense and take advantage of chances on offense. We were successful in implementing our game plan, and almost came out with the victory."
Farhad is known for  his big personality on and off the football pitch. He is the only player in the league who shows off his team spirit by dying his hair the same color as his jersey. After scoring a goal during a September 25th game versus De Maiwand Atalan, Totakhil ran all the way across the field to the VVIP section of AFF Stadium to greet and accept blessings from AFF President Keramuddin Karim. Purple hair and all.
On another occasion during an RAPL social media campaign, 21 players were selected (at random) and awarded smart-phones to give RAPL fans a window into their personal lives via Facebook and Twitter. Farhad wasn't happy when he didn't get selected. "If you want this campaign to be successful then you should give me a phone too," he said with his chin held high and a blank stare. He is nothing if not persuasive.
Totakhil was a boy when the Taliban controlled Afghanistan. During that time, the type of self expression that he exudes was strictly prohibited. When asked what he thought of the change  and how RAPL has been able to help, his response came after a long sigh. "The Roshan Afghan Premier League is the foundation of football in Afghanistan. RAPL gives players like me the freedom of expression. Before RAPL me and my teammates were known by only our friends and family members.    Now everyone in Afghanistan knows us. This is all because of RAPL, and I am very grateful.
