Defending RAPL champions Shaheen Asmayee took care of business in the semifinal round as they defeated De Maiwand Atalan to advance to the first ever RAPL Nawroz Tournament final.
Shaheen grabbed the lead early on courtesy of Hashmatullah Barakzai who scored on a powerful strike from outside the box. The lead would be short-lived however, as just minutes later Sayed Baqir scored on a penalty kick to tie the game. The back and forth action continued as Shaheen took the lead right back just minutes later when Amrudin Sharifi connected on goal with a soft header off of a corner kick.
Shaheen Asmayee matched their total scoring output from the first game by the 18th minute of this one, putting pressure squarely on the shoulders of the southerners. Unfortunately for De Maiwand Atalan, they were unable to answer the bell and make the match competitive.
Mustafa Afshar delivered the knockout blow in the 62nd minute when he got into the box and shot the ball past the goalkeeper with ease, giving his team a comfortable lead.
With the 3-1 win, Shaheen advances to the 2015 RAPL Nawroz Tournament finale, where they will play either Simorgh Alborz or De Spinghar Bazan.
The second leg of the semifinal between Simorgh and Spinghar will take place tomorrow March 18th at 3PM in the AFF Stadium Jalalabad.
