Simorgh and Atalan; The Big Game

9 Sep, 2015

Simorgh Alborz and De Maiwand Atalan will go head to head later today at 3:30 PM at the AFF Stadium.

Simorgh started this season with a 3-1 victory against Shaheen Asmayee, the current titleholders. Monerulhal Nadim, Simorgh’s captain scored the first two goals and Mustafa Rezaei finished with a third goal for his side.

De Maiwand Atalan tied their first game 2-2 with Toofan Harirod with a decent performance on the pitch. Sayed Baqer Mirsalimi, Atalan’s captain scored the first goal of the match, with his teammate Mustafa Afshar scoring the second goal.

"I believe our first game was way more difficult than tomorrow's. We are confident and prepared as a team, and will play with a winning mindset." Nadim said.

Simorgh opened this season being more confident and prepared on the pitch after winning the inaugural Nawroz Tournament Cup.

Atalan have restructured their entire squad with best players joining them from Toofan and De Spinghar Bazan. But, they have a strong opponent to lead today.

“We know it will be a tough game today, but we are ready to take on Simorgh .” Mirsalimi said.

Simorgh will be 3 points ahead of Shaheen in Group A standings after securing today’s win.

For Atalan, the stakes could not be higher in today’s game. If they want to have any hope of reaching the semi finals they must pull of a win. They are already behind Shaheen and Simorgh in the standings.

All of the group stage matches will start at 3:30 pm this season. The matches will broadcast live on TOLO TV, Lemar TV, Arman FM and Arakozai FM.  It will also be watchable on the RAPL YouTube page (www.youtube.com/afghanpremierleague).
